MTM Screening Tools Update

outreach

Media That Matters has been expanding the ways that people can utilize our short films. All films from past festivals are available for streaming online on our website, as they have been since before YouTube was even around, and the festival staff has been working on bringing these films to as wide an audience as possible, so we now offer several ways for viewers to host their own DIY screenings in their own communities.

One of our newest resources is the website Brave New Theaters. Brave New Theaters (BNT) is a free database of films that serves to connect filmmakers and film lovers, and foster a community of independent media sharing. As their philosophy is in line with that of Arts Engine, we have added our films to their site. BNT is a wonderful tool for anyone wanting to get their film out there and seen by as many people as possible. After watching a film online, the viewer can follow a link to purchase a DVD and then host a screening on their own.

We want our films to generate action and spark debate, and there is no better way to start that process than to have them viewed by a group of people. When someone contacts us saying they want to hold a screening, they can either purchase an annual collection or a specially curated disc of up to 12 different films of their choice. Media That Matters then provides all of the important tools that accompany a screening, such as customizable fliers and press releases, action packs and discussion guides, and evaluation forms. We also encourage the shorts to be used in conjunction with feature length films and will offer programming assistance to anyone who asks.

All of these tools are making it easier than ever for anyone to bring Media That Matters to their community. The more people who see our films the better and we are very excited about all our recent outreach developments.
