Big Mouth and Arts Engine Push an Elephant!
Arts Engine’s ninth documentary Rose & Nangabire has just changed its title to Pushing the Elephant!
If anyone has ever tried to come up with a title for anything, you know how hard it is to find the right fit. We knew we wanted the film’s title to come from our film’s protagonist Rose Mapendo’s own words, as the film itself is told in Rose and her family’s own voices.
Drawing on the ways in which her powerful public speaking inspires people to create change, the quote that is the impetus for the new title is:
“One person alone cannot push the elephant, but many people together can.”
—Rose Mapendo
This sentiment not only echoes the ways in which Rose is trying to bring peace to her home the Democratic Republic of Congo and her work with refugees but also how the entire Mapendo family is able to embrace forgiveness and rally behind the work of their mother.
We can’t wait to bring the film to audiences and should have news about our premiere very soon.
In the meantime, you can find film stills, our trailer and other news on our brand new Facebook Fan Page and Twitter feed.
