Munyurangabo at Anthology Film Archives: May 29th, 2009
This past weekend I had the pleasure to moderate two Q & A sessions for director Lee Isaac Chung’s amazing film about Rwanda, Munyurangabo. I have to say that I’m really proud to be part of this film’s distribution team. I’ve never seen a film that so clearly expressed a director’s unique artistic vision while so plainly acting as an advocacy piece, in this case a Rwandan call for peace and forgiveness after the genocide, now 15 years old.
As an independent filmmaker and distributor, I admire Isaac Chung for his vision, and Film Movement for taking a brave stance and distributing what many might call a ‘difficult’ film to market. The experience has been one of the highlights so far of my short career as a distributor.
