Outside Looking In: The Remix
The National Black Programming Consortium’s Masculinity Project features a great series called Remix. They are shorter, mixed up versions of feature length documentaries. Our film, Outside Looking In: Transracial Adoption in America was given a proper remix by Sabrina Gordon and Phil Bertelsen. For those of you who have seen the film, this short piece is a great update on both “Big” and “Little” Phil. I appreciate how the short allows the space for Phil to look at a major confrontation in the film and think analytically about it. The point he makes about the importance of Black men growing up with role models is a great one. (Thankfully, Barack Obama is a good one!) It’s great to check in with everyone eight years later.
And for those who haven’t seen the feature length film, check it out.
