Shorts for SHORTS
This just in: NYC Schools Chancellor and New York Film Academy join forces with Best Buy for “a citywide writing, directing, and producing competition open to every seventh- and eighth-grade student” - announcing the first annual New York Middle School Film Festival.
This is a great move for media arts curricula nationwide - but perhaps a delayed natural leap to take for NYC Public Schools. Best Buy has also partnered with Film Independent for a nation-wide @15 Short Film Contest. I’m curious to see the future of state-funded media arts programs for our younger filmmakers.
