Anyone at the Austin Film Festival should make sure to check out HIV: The Musical!

A new short from the brilliant British team of writers, producers and actors including The Mighty Boosh and The Office stars Julian Barrett and Martin Freeman, the film is a great example of how getting an important message through on film doesn’t have to be heavy-handed… or even especially tasteful.

As my colleague Austra pointed out in her recent MediaRights article, The Daily Show is another example of how media makers are using creative and satirical methods to get messages or pressing news items across to the public. And of course there’s the recent PSA on FunnyorDie.com covering the US Health Reform debate and it’s attempts to hurt our favourite Health Insurance companies….
