Film Description

Before the 2008 presidential elections, filmmaker Jeff Deutchman contacted twenty friends and fellow filmmakers around the world to participate in documenting the events of the day.  From a young Brooklyn man debating whether one person’s vote makes a difference, to a family in Alaska passing their excitement onto their grade school aged daughter, to a St. Louis campaign volunteer emotionally thanking her white coworkers for supporting Obama regardless of his race, 11-4-08 spans the country, building the tension as the clock counts down to that historic moment.  The film also takes us abroad, where three young women in Switzerland fervently support Obama, and a group of black Parisians renew their faith that France will one day elect a black leader of their own.  Deutchman characterizes this documentary as a work-in-progress, and asks anyone with footage from the day to send it in in hopes of creating an “interactive history.”
