Film Description

4CHOSEN tells the story of four basketball players from New York City who began a journey to North Carolina to showcase their talent to college recruiters. Their journey to fulfill their dreams was interrupted when they were pulled over by two New Jersey State Troopers on the New Jersey Turnpike. Short after, the unprovoked troopers opened fire on the four players. The documentary is narrated by Montel Williams and it features interviews with Reverend Al Sharpton, lawyers Barry Scheck, Peter Neufeld, and more.

This was a landmark case in the state of New Jersey with Governor Christine Todd Whitman admitting the state was practicing racial profiling. The four boys fought for their cause with the assistance of famed attorney Johnnie Cochran and the Reverend Al Sharpton. Together they were able to change the policies of the NJ State Troopers, including the installation of cameras in all State Trooper vehicles to record traffic stops.
