Film Description

Finding Common Ground in New Orleans is a short documentary that addresses the social injustice that took place during and after the hurricane Katrina disaster through the lens of poet and activist Walidah Imarisha.  Finding Common Ground exists as an organizing tool for community activists to engage audiences in a dialogue about timely social issues, recruit participants, and to counter the racist portrayals of Black people as helpless victims or criminals in the wake of Katrina.
