Film Description

One morning just days after the November 2008 presidential election, thousands of New Yorkers read in the New York Times that the war in Iraq had ended.  And that a maximum wage law had been passed in Congress. And that the former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice issued an apology for using the false claim of weapons of mass destruction as a pretext for war.

1.2 million copies of a fake New York Times were produced by the Yes Men and the Anti-Advertising Agency to call attention to a range of political and social issues facing our country. This short video documents the reaction of people on the street to the “news” of that day.
