Film Description
Merde! is the feature length documentary chronicling the work of the Los Angeles based blue13 dance company, and its challenges to break through stereotypical views of dance, overcome growing pains, and survive in a city obsessed with the film industry. The story hinges on Artistic Director, Achinta S. McDaniel., and her struggle to maintain a voice and presence as a pioneer in the Los Angeles dance community, while coming to terms with her diagnoses of Multiple Sclerosis in the prime of her career. Merde! plays witness to the company’s rising fame, growing from a small, home-run Los Angeles dance company to establishing itself as a professional, touring ensemble on the road to national and international acclaim.
Merde! takes viewers through a dizzying display of wildly energetic dance scenes, live productions, both small and large, and personal stories of the dancers, from hilarious anecdotes to heartbreaking tragedy, all accompanied by a an original score by composer Tej Gill.
