Film Description
The Greenhorns documentary film explores the spirit, practices and needs of America’s emergent generation of young farmers, with the aim to recruit more of them and advocate for their integral place in our society. The story follows hip, pioneer farmers from all over the country who are challenging ingrained assumptions about the agrarian life as well as practical economic and political challenges to operating as a farm professional. The film celebrates new agricultural entrepreneurship as a positive, widespread impetus against the ravages of industrial food and monocultures. As it tells the individual stories and reveals the particular places and faces behind this movement, The Greenhorns also takes a close look at American agricultural history and puts our current crisis in a broad context of cyclical change.
