Film Description

How does a motley crew of journalists, artists and students create an award-winning radical newspaper in the media capitol of the world?

Meet Don, an octogenarian who has been covering the ‘Worthless good-for-nothings’ at the U.N. for over 40 Years, or Antrim, who covers poisoned communities and mountain-top removal in West Virginia, or A.K. Gupta who recognized U.S.-made civil war in Iraq two years before the mainstream media. Now approaching it’s 100th issue, and in its 7th year of production, The Indypendent is a newspaper like no other. Created on a shoe string budget with a volunteer staff, this paper has flourished despite the odds, winning more awards four years running than any other paper from the New York Independent Press Association.
