Film Description

A Quiet Inquisition (Working Title) recounts the experience of women, doctors and activists in El Salvador and Nicaragua where the termination of pregnancy, even if it be in response to a result of rape, incest, or to save the woman’s life, is a criminal offense that is actively prosecuted. Shot on location, our characters speak forcefully in first person accounts as powerful witnesses to their own experiences, taking us on a surreal journey that slowly unravels how the prohibitions function in everyday life.

A Quiet Inquisition
is an exploration into the complex effects of such draconian laws on all sectors of society and a cautionary tale for a possible future at our own nation’s doorstep.
