Film Description
Approximately 3,000 men are waiting to die in prisons across America. But few people are aware that there are some 50 women awaiting the same fate, convicted of crimes so heinous that they have been sentenced to death.
AMERICAN JUSTICEŽ throws open the doors of death row in women's prisons throughout the nation to explore their fascinating stories. In jailhouse interviews, they talk of their crimes, their life in prison, and their sorrow over not being able to see their children or grandchildren grow up. Meet Lynda Lyon, awaiting death in Alabama, whose husband is also on death row, and Ronnie Burke, the son of executed killer Velma Barfield. Barfield is one of the very few women who have actually been put to death, and her case is examined at length through interviews with lawyers on both sides, the warden of the prison where she was executed, and witnesses to the execution.
