Film Description
This film describes the history, rites, and practices of Nganga, the Bantu-based belief system of the slaves brought to Cuba from the Congo region of Africa, and attempts to distinguish it from the better-known Yoruba-based Santera. The film focuses on the actions performed by a palero (priest), during his morning prayer. Includes a long interview with Miguel Barnet, author of Biography of a Runaway Slave.
