Film Description
This video biography of the world-famous black actor and singer traces both his career in show business, from his international acclaim as a stage and screen actor in the Thirties and his subsequent decision to quit the film industry to launch a successful singing career, as well as his outspoken protest of the racial injustice faced by blacks in the U.S., and his espousal of leftist causes which resulted in his being blacklisted and the eventual destruction of his career.
