Film Description
This Oscar nominated classic follows the occupation of small French industrial city Clermont-Ferrand by the Germans in World War 2. Ophuls combines a range of interviews with Resistance fighters, collaborators, spies, farmers, government officials, writers, artists and veterans, with archive footage to create a powerful story of how ordinary people conducted themselves under extraordinary circumstances.
