Film Description

On November 27th, 1978, Board of Supervisors member Harvey Milk, along with Mayor George Moscone, were assassinated in their city of San Francisco.  Milk’s fellow Supervisor, Dan White, was convicted on two counts of manslaughter and committed suicide two years later.  One of his victims, Milk, had been the first openly gay official elected to public office.  Following his death, Milk became a symbol of gay rights and equality across the nation.  The Times of Harvey Milk documents his life both before and after the election by including archived footage of Milk during his life.  Deeper profiles of Moscone and White are also presented, as well as the city’s reaction after Milk’s assassination and during White’s trial.
