Film Description
Taking the rituals of food and language as points of departure, this charming documentary explores Chinese-American identity and the immigrant experience. The filmmaker approaches a series of strangersall immigrant womenin a Chinatown grocery store, and then follows them home for dinner. As each of the women prepare the family dinner, the filmmaker opens a door into the important connections between food, language and culture as well as the complex relationship between immigrant identity and class, race and gender.
