The Just Media Project: Cast Your Nominations for Media Policy Innovators Today!

MediaRights has a longstanding commitment to support independent media through outreach and educational programs. We consider media policy a vital and pressing issue that affects those who make media as well as those who watch it. In the hopes of bridging the gap between media makers and media reformers and to raise awareness about pressing media policy issues, we are introducing a new project to honor individuals on the frontline of the media policy debate.

Sponsored by the Ford Foundation and the Open Society Institute, the Just Media Project will debut this May as part of MediaRights's fourth annual Media That Matters Film Festival. At the Festival Awards Ceremony on May 19th we will honor two individuals who have dedicated themselves to defending independent media with the Just Media Lifetime Achievement Award and the Just Media Emerging Leader Award.

MediaRights will produce profiles of these individuals and their achievements as well as a media policy action and resource guide to be included on the Festival Web site and DVD.

As a member of the MediaRights community, we would like to invite you to participate in the Just Media Project by nominating up to four individuals who you believe should be recognized for their achievements in advocating for democratic media. It will only take a minute. So please Sign in and fill out the form below.

I. Please nominate one or two individuals for the Just Media Lifetime Achievement Award.

Just Media Lifetime Achievement Award – Nominees should have made a significant contribution to the reform of media policy by galvanizing others, writing/speaking on media policy issues, and leading or being an instrumental part of a campaign that called for media reform.
