Chicago Children's Film Fest Winners Announced

More than 22,000 Children voted the Brazilian feature Tainah: An Amazon Adventure "Best of the Fest." Tainah stars the sensational child star Eunice Baia, who was on hand to accept the $2500 "Best of the Fest Prize" on Sunday, November 4.

The 18th edition of the eleven-day festival (October 25 — November 4, 2001) featured record attendance and over 270 films from more than 38 countries on five Chicago screens, making it the largest festival of films for children in North America.

The festival's cash prizes recognize emerging talent, and help discover filmmakers of tomorrow. The festival awarded the Montgomery Prize for Best Film or Video by an Emerging Adult Director ($2500) to Jennifer Ussi, the director of The Unique Oneness of Christian Savage; the Kenneth F. and Harle G. Montgomery Prize for Best Film or Video by a Child Director ($2500) the makers of ALIENS?; the Liv Ullman Peace Prize ($500) to the brilliant shorts collection NO MORE LIES; and the Rights of the Child Prize ($500) The Testimony of Taliesin Jones. The festival also presents several non-cash awards.
