D.I.Y. FILMFEST SHAKES UP SUNDANCE
LOST FILM FESTIVAL will be happening concurrently with SUNDANCE in Park City, Utah this year. The festival is a collectively run, West Philadelphia based underground alternative to the big-industry hustle that invades Park City, UT every year.
This roving event travels around the world celebrating youth subculture. It pokes a socially responsible finger at the mainstream, while never losing its sense of humor. Festival director Scott Beibin (of Bloodlink Records) says, "We show great films that capture the independent spirit, but often fall under-the-radar of the industry, films that are created by the people in the subcultures. We also feature footage produced by videoactvists from around the world, whose images are often censored by the corporate media."
This year's program is a sneak preview of the forthcoming Philly festival in April. Some featured films are Donald and Dot Clock Found Dead in Their Home (Michael Kowalski), Tree-Sit (havc media), BOOM: The Sound of Eviction, D.I.Y. or Die (Michael W Dean), Crowd Bites Wolf and many more.
Keynote Speakers and bands at the festival have included Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Fred Schneider (B52's), Ian MacKaye (Fugazi), Lightning Bolt & An Albatross. This year there are many surprise guests, as well as live Music by Quintron (tentative), The Fleshies, and more tba.
