Release: Trembling Before G-d

The long-awaited DVD and VHS of Trembling Before G-d will be released in the U.S. and Canada on October 21st at Blockbuster, Tower, Borders, Virgin Megastore, Kim's Video, Netflix, video stores, etc. (Amazon.com and BN.com are already taking pre-orders). It is a beautifully designed Deluxe 2-Disk set loaded with Special Features (of course!). I have just emerged from spending the past four months in the editing room creating 10 mini-movies that truly document a decade of work and how Trembling became more than just a movie, but the seeds of a movement, changing communities and lives. The DVD was a challenge, as the stories of the film's impact over the past 2 ? years are quite extraordinary and went way beyond what we ever dreamed or imagined. The centerpiece of the DVD's Special Features is a featurette, "Trembling on the Road," about the movement of the film around the world with protests, dialogues, events, screenings and reactions - poignant, funny, interesting, angry, inspiring - from our Sundance Film Festival World Premiere, Israel, Mexico City, our first Orthodox synagogue screenings, London, San Francisco, Rabbi Steve's Ohio homecoming, and more . . . with special updates on the lives of those featured in the film - Israel, Michelle, David, Malka, Leah, "Devorah" . . .

The DVD has three additional hours of Special Features. Besides Trembling on the Road, there is Mark: The Musical, Behind the Silhouettes, More with Rabbi Steve Greenberg, More with the Rabbis, Interview with the Director - Sandi Simcha DuBowski, Petach Lev: The Trembling Israeli Education Project, Deleted scene - Sara and Her Kids, What is The Atonement Ceremony for Sexual Sins?, Shlomo on Donahue, Conversation with Editor and Director Susan Korda. I included my first film that I made with my 88 year-old grandmother called Tomboychik. We also subtitled the film in Yiddish, Spanish, and Hebrew and closed captioned it for the hearing impaired.
