CALL FOR APPLICATIONS!
Project Involve: IFP/New York
Promoting Diversity in the Film Industry
Postmarked Deadline for Spring 2004 is November 7, 2003
Project Involve: New York is a:
1. Fellowship Program designed to foster mentorship and industry placement opportunities for mid-career filmmakers.
2. Five-month series of Networking Workshops that promote new industry relationships for emerging filmmakers from cultural, ethnic, and racial minorities.
Fellowship Program:
Project Involve: New York's Fellowship Program helps filmmakers from under-represented communities who have already worked on a feature-length narrative film or documentary in a key position. The goal is to attain industry placement while providing networking opportunities with established filmmakers. Four fellows are selected each year: two for the Spring and two for the Fall. The Fellowship requires a full-time, five-month commitment and is accompanied by a $10,000 stipend to offset participant's costs during their involvement in the program. Fellows work at IFP/New York for the first half of their fellowship while they decide on an industry placement position for the balance of their fellowship.
Networking Workshops:
The Networking Workshops are designed to assist emerging filmmakers through numerous monthly, three-hour meetings (roundtables, gatherings, lectures, etc.) led by established filmmakers that allow the participants to seek guidance from professionals on a wide variety of critical topics —from fundraising and development to producing and distribution. Workshop participants divided into two groups of 10 — one focused on narrative and one documentary group. A total of 20 individuals are selected for the Networking Workshops twice a year.
