Seeking National Outreach and Education Coordinator
for independent/public television programming about disability rights and access to technology for people with disabilities.

ITVS's Community Connections Project, in partnership with FREEDOM MACHINES, is seeking to contract with a National Coordinator to develop and implement an outreach and education campaign for social issue public television programming. The campaign will use a public television program that focus on access to technology for people with disabilities and disability rights to impact relevant communities across the United States.

Contract period: 6 months, beginning mid November 2003 (flex. time in December and January)
Part time: 15-20 hours weekly-daytime hrs.
Payment: based on experience

Coordinator responsibilities include:
º devise and implement an effective outreach strategy around themes raised in the program (in particular, access to technology);
º coordinate the production & development of discussion materials and resources;
º research & develop partnerships with key local, regional and national organizations;
º distribute resources to partners and relevant national listservs;
º coordinate outreach events (from long distance) in select towns and cities in conjunction with national & local partners;
º maintain databases of contact information and activities;
º provide regular reports on activities to key partners.

Applicants should have:
º experience and understanding of issues important to people with disabilities;
º competent phone conversational skills;
º strong organizational skills;
º the ability to multi task and take initiative;
º reliable access to phone & internet;
º strong computer proficiency (WORD, Excel and Filemaker);
º an office/home space to work from.
