Women's Film Preservation Fund Grant Opportunity
We are pleased to announce that The Women's Film Preservation Fund (WFPF) of New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) is again seeking proposals for the funding of preservation or restoration of American
films in which women had significant creative positions. Individuals and not-for-profit organizations are eligible to apply for grants of up to $10,000.
The Women's Film Preservation Fund aims to contribute to an understanding of the importance of women in film history, and to increase awareness of the necessity for film preservation. Since its inception in 1995, the Women's Film Preservation Fund has provided financial and in-kind support for the preservation of more than 48 widely varied short and feature films ranging from silent era works by Lois Weber and Alice Guy Blaché to films made in the 70s by Meredith Monk and Barbara Kopple. Films may be any length or genre, on any subject matter, in any film format.
The next deadline for applications is October 31, 2003. A panel of professional filmmakers, film historians, preservationists, curators and educators will review all applications and award the grants. The grants will be announced in March of 2004.
We are asking you to help us spread the word about the Fund by forwarding this email to anyone who might be interested.
Applications guidelines, as well as a list of previous grants, can be downloaded from http://www.womensfilmpreservationfund.org.
We thank you for helping us let people know about our efforts to preserve and restore worthy films that are a part of women's film history.
Sincerely,
Jennifer J. Wollan &
Susan Lazarus
