Environmental Short-Film Festival

The Oakland Museum of California presents:
Earth Dance: An Environmental Short-Film Festival
April 2, 2004
6-9pm

The Oakland Museum of California is calling for submissions for its 1st Annual Environmental Film Festival. This is your chance to tell your story.

Films can be serious, informative and/or funny, but they must address an environmental topic. For example, you could make a movie about squirrels, the health effects of eating fish caught from San Francisco Bay, or the fears that people have about spiders.

You write, produce, direct and film your story. Have fun with it. In the end, 10 videos will be selected and shown on the night of the festival. Prizes will be awarded for Best Film, Best Content and Audience Favorite (Awards for participants under 18 years of age and over 18 years of age).

WHO YOU ARE:

• This project is for anyone with a real passion for the environment.
• You want to bring your message to a broad audience.
• You are interested in story telling and video production.
• You like to talk to people and ask important questions.
• You think this sounds fun and are between the ages of 12 and 112.

SOME DETAILS:

• Depending on availability, the Museum will help you by providing access to various experts, as well as scientific, video and creative resources.

IN SUMMARY:

• The Oakland Museum of California would like to support a team of people/students in your area to

create an environmental story/documentary about an issue that interests/concerns you.

• Your team creates and films a compelling story 5-15 minutes long.
• You submit your video to Zakary Zide at the Oakland Museum.
• If selected, your team's video will be shown in the James Moore Theater, at the Oakland Museum, on April 2nd.
