Images of Communication (For Photographers)

The theme of this photography competition is Communication. WACC is looking for visual interpretation of current communication issues.
Entries may cover the following areas which are not limiting:

* Mass media and alternative media: people reporting, broadcasting, publishing; people as passive or active recipients of mass media
* Media and conflict
* Communication and HIV/AIDS, combating stigma and discrimination
* Media and Gender

Prizes
There will be one overall winner, and prizes for three highly commended photographers. The prizes will be: 1st Prize: $750, Commendations: $250 each. A selection of entries will be exhibited initially in London and form part of a mobile exhibition which will travel internationally. A selection of entries will be used in the WACC publications Media Development, Action, Media & Gender Monitor and on the WACC website. Press releases will be sent to the Press, galleries, and magasines worldwide.

Eligibility
The competition is open to all men, women and children, of all ages and from all countries. Entries from amateurs and professionals are welcome. There is no limit to the number of photographs that a person may enter. Each entry will be judged separately, but no entrant may win more than one prize in the contest.

Format for Entries
Photographs may be submitted in color or black and white. Entries can be submitted as print or digital files. Prints must be no larger than A4 (210 x 299 mm) and unmounted. Digital files must be supplied in TIFF or JPEG format on floppy disk, CD or zip drive cartridge, preferably accompanied by a print-out. High resolution images are preferable (300dpi) though lower resolution images are acceptable. You may also send digital files by e-mail to sh@wacc.org.uk
