Be the Media at the RNC !

The NYC Grassroots Media Coalition has secured a space for use as an Independent Media Center (IMC) during the week of the Republican National Convention. This convergence space is meant to be utilized by independent (non-corporate and non-profit) media makers and we hope that you will join us! The IMC will serve as a community newsroom for independent media coverage of the outpouring of protest planned against the Bush agenda.

The IMC will be used by media-makers to produce their own media or join a team producing collaborative audio, video, print, web, or photo projects. All skill levels are welcome and media training will occur throughout the week of protests for activists without previous training who wish to participate. For activists who would like pre-RNC media production training, please contact us ASAP so we can try to set something up. We will have a dispatch center to let independent media-makers know where events are taking place that need coverage. This phone number to report breaking news is: (212) 233-5767.

An info-session and walk through will happen at 220 Church Street on Tuesday August 24 at 1pm and Thursday August 26 at 1pm for community organizations interested in working in the space. PLEASE RSVP and please note that photo ID will be required for entrance to the building during the tours this week.
