Once There Was A Country: Revisiting Haiti Screening
The George Washington University Office of International Medicine invites you to the private, first-time screening of a new documentary, Once There Was A Country: Revisiting Haiti.
Monday, October 4, 2004, 5:30 pm
The George Washington University
Ross Hall, Room 101
2300 Eye Street, NW
Washington, DC
Once There Was A Country examines the causes of the present healthcare crisis in Haiti and provides examples on how innovative healthcare programs can alleviate poverty and disease in the most isolated regions of Haiti. The film highlights Haiti's rich cultural heritage and explores the social and environmental reasons behind a failing healthcare infrastructure and Haiti's status as the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Once There Was A Country aims to dispel the myths surrounding this misunderstood country and to provide viewers with a surprisingly positive point of view.
This screening is free and open to the public. To reserve a seat, please RSVP to Rick James at 202-994-2796 or via e-mail imprxj@gwumc.edu. Media interested in interviewing Kimberly Green or in the film screening should contact Barbara Porter at 202-994-3121.
