PRACTITIONERS' CONFERENCE ON CIVIC EDUCATION
New Orleans. Hotel InterContinental, January 13th through 15th, 2005--Proposal Deadline 10/31/04
This interdisciplinary conference will draw together: K-12 educators and counselors, university teacher educators, state coordinators and policy makers, school and university administrators, staff from youth-serving community based organizations. This would include work on: service-learning, moral education, character education, democratic education, violence prevention, substance abuse prevention.
The deadline to submit proposals is 10/31/04. Potential workshops topic could examine general types of civic education like service-learning, character education, moral education or democratic education. They could also examine how to: develop student leadership, foster democratic classrooms, or work with specific student populations (class type, ages, etc.).
