Film Festival on Globalization and the Informal Sector
Film Festival: Globalization and the Informal Sector. With privatization of essential goods (water); variations on the traffic of human beings; and virtual commoditie (carbon credit) that when traded exclude already isolated communities ... Globalization played out in the informal sector becomes a precarious path characterized by hardship and constant struggle to scrape together the ante for a zero-sum game.
This two-day film festival (Friday, October 22, 1:30 p.m.-- Saturday, October 23, 8:30 p.m.), includes a diverse collection of the most creative and evocative globalization-related films of recent years. The festival is organized by Todd Lester, doctoral student, the New School University. Three panel discussions by GW faculty and other experts contextualize the issues raised by the films and address policy implications.
