BROTHERS & OTHERS: THE IMPACT OF 9/11 ON MUSLIMS, ARABS AND SOUTH ASIANS IN AMERICA

The atrocities witnessed by the world on September 11th were hateful acts by terrorists who chose to view their victims not as people but as symbols of a perceived evil. As the U.S. government moved to secure the safety of the homeland, thousands of Arabs, Muslims and South Asians were jailed without evidence or due process. BROTHERS & OTHERS: THE IMPACT OF 9/11 ON MUSLIMS, ARABS AND SOUTH ASIANS IN AMERICA is a video documentary that follows a number of immigrant and American families as they struggle under the heightened climate of suspicion, FBI and INS investigations and economic hardships.
The BROTHERS & OTHERS film screening will be followed by a panel discussion that will offer a multilayered perspective on the issues of ensuring homeland security, guaranteeing civil rights and liberties and gauging the impact of the U.S. war on terrorism both domestically and abroad.
Panelists include:
Robert Spencer - Director of Jihad Watch; Adem Carroll - Relief Coordinator at Islamic Center of North America; Nicolas Rossier - Filmmaker, director of BROTHERS & OTHERS
