Job Opening: Radio/TV News Producer
Democracy Now!, one of the leading independent radio/TV news programs in the US, is hiring a news producer to work out of its New York office. The candidate must be an enthusiastic observer/follower of the news, a strong internet researcher, a solid writer and have a familiarity with international and national affairs. Prior experience in a newsroom or working for a news organization is a plus, but is not required. Familiarity
and contacts with movements for social change in the US and internationally is desirable. Part of the job will include work on video production, editing video on FinalCut Pro, filming press conferences, interviews and events. While working knowledge of FinalCut is not required, it is a major bonus.
People of color are strongly encouraged to apply. Job duties will include finding interesting guests to speak on a wide range of topics, pre-interviewing prospective guests, editing video clips for broadcast, researching stories and developing story ideas. The bottom line is that Democracy Now! is looking for an enthusiastic news junkie with solid tech/video skills to join a tight-knit team in producing one of the leading independent news programs in the US.
