911 OPENS SEATTLE'S NEW 'HEART OF MEDIA ART'

Open House Gala to Feature work from Media Artist Gary Hill

After 20 years of ongoing service to Seattle's arts community, 911 Media Arts Center will celebrate the grand opening of its new facility with a Gala Open House, starting at 7pm, Thursday, December 2, 2004, at 402 Ninth Avenue North in the South Lake Union neighborhood. Admission is free to the general public.
As the anchor event for the Gala Open House, 911 will launch its new gallery - dedicated to moving image and digital media arts - with an opening exhibition entitled "Language Willing" by renowned media artist Gary Hill. The exhibition will be on view through January 15, 2005.

Along with the Hill work, Gala Open House attendees will enjoy food, a hosted cocktail happy hour, music, video installations, and performances by rising Seattle digital media artists Monktail, DJ Gregory D, Taichi Kitamura and The Now Device.

Since 1984, 911 Media Arts Center has been
Washington State's premiere non-profit media arts organization and is recognized as one of the leading media arts centers in the nation (as noted by the National Association of Media Arts & Culture [NAMAC] and the National Association of Artists Organizations [NAAO]).
