LOVE, LABOR, LOSS Launches Advocacy Video on Obstetric Fistula

LOVE, LABOR, LOSS - the first U.S. produced feature-length documentary film on obstetric fistula - launches the release of a 15-minute advocacy version, narrated by Tony-award winning actress, Tonya Pinkins with music by Zap Mama. The advocacy video is available for agencies and individuals wishing to screen the video to raise awareness and funds for this horrific childbearing injury affecting over 2 million women in the developing world.

With support from UNFPA, EngenderHealth, Int'l Center for Research on Women and the Feminist Majority Foundation, LOVE, LABOR, LOSS is an innovative social communications initiative produced that collaborates with and for the UN/NGO community to bring this important women's reproductive right issue to the forefront of the public agenda. Shot on location in Niger, West Africa, the film follows the lives of women living with fistula in a country where forced early marriages, poverty, gender inequity and unassisted deliveries are the norm. Grassroots distribution will occur on important social holidays throughout 2005.
