RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Director of Development & External Affairs
A dynamic, growing nonprofit organization, Arts Engine, Inc., is seeking a senior development staff person to assist with its growth from a small to a midsized organization. This is a full time position raising revenue for the annual budget of Arts Engine, Inc., which includes: pitching for film festival corporate sponsorship, film funding and educational outreach. Some of our projects include: Deadline, the movie; the Media That Matters Film Festival, MediaRights and films for Big Mouth Productions. The Director of Development & External Affairs will report to the Executive Director. He or she will work closely with the Executive Director, develop and execute plans to fund the organization's annual budget and increase the public profile of Arts Engine and its mission in the media and with key constituencies.
A. Develop and execute plan to fund Arts Engine's annual budget:
1. Work with development staff to develop a plan to raise funds needed to fund the annual organization budget of $1.5 million.
2. Supervise Development Department staff to ensure effective fundraising efforts are happening on a timely basis.
3. Report to ED on fundraising status on a monthly basis.
4. Work with ED and the Director of Operations to develop a soundand sustainable annual budget.
5. Oversee fundraising tasks including foundation grants, corporatesponsorship, project-related grants and investments and individual donors.
6. Work with program staff to ensure that fundraising plan is coordinated with all other external communications.
B: Work with Executive Director to oversee Organization's external representation:
1. In coordination with Executive Director and relevant program staff, ensure high quality and consistent communications, both internally and externally, regarding the organization's mission and projects.
2. Coordinate external inquiries from the media and funders with therelevant program personnel.
3. Develop strategies to maximize communications and public relations successes to support fundraising efforts.
C. Serve as member of Arts Engine senior management team:
1. Assist ED and other management staff with planning for organization.
2. Serve as an organization representative with funders, organizational allies and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years development experience
- Expertise developing, analyzing budgets and cash flow
- Outgoing, articulate person with an interest in independent media and web based, grassroots activism.
- Public relations experience a plus
