The Role of Technology and New Media in the Tsunami Relief Efforts
The tsunami in the Indian Ocean was a horrific reminder of the
destruction that can result from a natural disaster. Thanks to the rapid evolution of available technology, the global response to such large-scale destruction broke new ground in approaches to disaster relief.
Please join the Innovation Funders Network, Grantmakers
Concerned with Refugees and Immigrants, Women's Funding Network and the Center for Media & Community at the Education Development Center as we lead a live webcast to examine
the use of information and communications technology in response to this disaster. We'll discuss what resources were created in response to the tragedy, how the Internet was used in relief efforts as well as in newscasting, and how organizations utilized technology to help disaster victims.
The webcast will occur on Feb. 9 at 9:30am, Pacific Standard Time, and last approximately one hour.
