My Brother Nikhil, a cutting edge film from India starring Sanjay Suri and Juhi Chawla, tells the story of a young positive man living in Goa, India in the late 1980s. Nikhil is a championship swimmer and is adored by his family and his community. When he finds out he is HIV positive, he loses his job, his friends and his family. He is forced to face stigma and discrimination at a time when little was known about AIDS, with only his sister and his lover by his side. The film, which is inspired by actual events,
recently debuted to strong reviews and audiences in India.
