NAMAC 2005 Conference
Here are details to help you plan your trip to Philadelphia so you can be part of Taking Liberties: Freedom, Creativity and Risk in the Media Arts - NAMAC 2005 Conference.
WHEN: Wednesday, September 28 through Sunday, October 2, 2005
WHERE: Philadelphia, PA
On-Line Registration is available on our Conference website www.takingliberties2005.org. Also we are thrilled to announce several opportunities for eligible participants to apply for travel subsidies and scholarships from NAMAC and your state arts councils.
Philadelphia is thrilled to be hosting the next National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture (NAMAC) Conference. We can't wait for you to arrive. We are planning this Conference with a sense of inquiry, urgency, energy and whimsy. The themes of freedom, creativity and risk, chosen well before the November election, feel even more charged, apt and rich for interpretation and experimentation.
The Conference will feature plenaries on the state of the media arts field; participatory sessions to develop policy statements and initiatives; screenings; site visits; exhibitions of commissioned works; and NAMAC's signature Awards Ceremony that honors individuals, funders and organizations working to further the media arts field.
The Conference will take up the many challenges facing media makers in an uncertain economic climate; the value of the media arts as a cultural, economic and community rejuvenator; and the threats and opportunities currently facing media makers and the organizations that support them.
Structured around one of the key theme areas of freedom, creativity, and risk, each day will allow all who attend an opportunity to hear, to participate, and to chart our future together.
