Humanities Washington Documentary Film and Video Grants (Washington State)

Matching grants,$10,000 to $40,000, to fund pre- and post-production expenses in support of documentary filmmaking that is rich in humanities content and analysis. Any public agency or nonprofit organization located in Washington State is eligible to apply; individual filmmakers must contract with a nonprofit sponsoring organization. Film subject need not be specific to Washington if filmmaker lives in the state. Filmmakers from other states may apply if their films have a direct connection or relevance to the state and if filmmaker has an in-state sponsor. Examples of eligible film content include: historical and cultural investigations, verite-style documentary, biographies of leaders, leading cultural personalities, fascinating personalities, personal documentaries, extended non-fiction stories that deepen understanding of news events (e.g., documentaries on women and Islam), accounts of unique events or people, or eccentrics; indeed, any part of the cultural story, broadly defined, is eligible.
