Call to IV-Hispanic-American Independent Video Documentary Encounter

Voices Against the Silence, Independent Video, (Civil Association), a non-governmental and non-profit association whose objectives are the production, promotion and diffusion documentaries videos with social character, is organizing the IV Hispanic-American Independent Video Documentary Encounter: All Voices Against Silence (Contra el Silencio Todas las Voces) that will take place in Mexico City and other cities of Mexico
from 22d to the 31st of March, 2006.

SUMMON

All video makers interested in participating on the contest that will take place in Mexico City from the 22 to 31 of March, 2006; within the IV Hispanic-American Encounter of Independent Video Documentary: All voices against silence (Contra el Silencio Todas las Voces) and with the objective of continue the effort of diffusing video documentaries, which started on the year 2000 and continued in 2002 and 2004, upon the following:


BASIS


FIRST: All Latin American and Spanish video makers will be able to participate, as well as those from other continents, whose work refers to Hispanic-American issues.

SECOND: All documentaries produced since January 16th 2004, with an independent vision and originally made in video will be able to participate included in the different categories of this contest.

THIRD: The contest includes the following categories:
· Social Movements and Civil Organization
· Human Rights
· Indigenous people
· Women
· Childhood, Youth and Third Age
· Borders, Migrations and Exiles
· Environmental issues and Sustainable Development

FOURTH: Subscription for the contest is free of charge.

FIFTH: The submitted documentaries must be accompanied by the call for entries thoroughly filled, after consulting the contest regulations, which were given by the Organization committee of the IV Encounter. Deadline for submitting and sending documentaries is November 30th, 2005. (The date on
the post stamp will be respected)

SIXTH: All documentaries must be submitted in video format with two copies: one of them in DVD, Mini-DV or Betacam SP (NTSC system) for the projections, and another copy in DVD format to ease the labor of the Selection Committee
and the International Jury. All two copies must have Spanish subtitles.

SEVENTH: The selection for the contest will be decided by a Commission which will be designated by the Organization Committee of the IV Encounter, the results will be notified to the participants of the contest on the first days of February 2006.

EIGHTH: All submitted documentaries will become part of the Videoteca Iberoamericana de Video Documental (Iberoamerican Video Archive), with the purpose of to be diffused in non profit alternative circuits.

NINTH: The International Jury will be formed by renowned filmmakers with great experience in the fields of audiovisual media, and by academics that are related with the categories of the IV Encounter. Their verdict will be
indisputable.

TENTH: The Jury will be asked to distinguish the best documentary despite the category, which responds to the concept of "Recobremos la memoria" ("Let
's regain our memory").

ELEVENTH: The prize of the Jury given to the best documentary in each category will be of USD $3,000.00.

TWELFTH: The Organizing Committee of the IV Encounter will invite national and international Institutions and Entities related with the categories of the event, to conform their own Juries and to institute prizes.

THIRTEENTH: Any situation which is not specified in this summon will be resolved by the Organizing Committee.
