ZAP MAMA and LOVE, LABOR, LOSS Launch The WOMAN Tour
The United Nations has called "Obstetric Fistula" One
of the "Top Ten Stories the World Should Hear More
About"
The WOMAN Tour is Heeding its Call!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Starting tomorrow and for
three weeks, musical visionary ZAP MAMA and
documentary film campaign LOVE, LABOR, LOSS will be
traveling nationwide to host screenings and music
performances to increase awareness of global womens
health through a spotlight on "obstetric fistula" - a
childbearing injury that has physically and socially
debilitated over 2 million women in the developing
world. Starting tomorrow with its launch in Seattle,
The WOMAN Tour will be visiting select universities,
music festivals and venues, and collaborating with
local women's health agenices throughout its 16-city
Tour. Their goal is to use the powerful mediums of
film and music to celebrate lives of women and
mobilize greater U.S. support for global women's
health.
"Change believes with consciousness and we are taking
this Tour on the road to reach new audiences who may
not know about fistula or other women's health needs
in the developing world. We are providing them with
concrete ways they can contribute in helping women get
the support they need for their health and
well-being," states director, Lisa Russell.
The WOMAN Tour shows are in the cities of Seattle,
Portland, Eugene, Laytonville, San Rafael, Los
Angeles, San Diego, Austin, Boulder, Indianapolis,
Atlanta, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Boston, New
York. Screenings will be taking place at PATH, UC
Berkeley, Dominican University of California, Claremot
Colleges, Boulder Theater, Boston University, George
Washington and in NYC (TBA.)
