Conference Overview
The conference is designed for:
K-12 teachers, school administrators, curriculum and department chairs, technology/media specialists, and librarians
BOCES administrators, instructional technology specialists, curriculum leaders
Teacher education faculty and students
Community educators working with K-12 education
Media literacy trainers interested in observing the Project Look Sharp model for application in their work with educators
This conference serves as an introduction to the concept of media literacy and its integration into the K-12 curriculum, with an emphasis on building essential critical thinking and communication skills. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear some of the leaders in the field of media literacy education, and to preview curriculum-related media literacy materials and lesson plans. By the end of the conference, attendees will understand what media literacy is, how it can be effectively integrated into K-12 education across the curriculum, and why it is essential for schools to do so in the 21st century.
