San Francisco Women's Film Festival & Muse Media Scholarship
$20,000 Scholarship Fund for Women Filmmakers Offered by Muse Media San Francisco Women’s Film Festival forms relationship with Muse Media to support women filmmakers to complete their films.
Serious filmmakers who meet San Francisco Women’s Film Festival (SFWFF) entry requirements and who have already raised funding for their films will be interviewed by a panel of judges at SFWFF in April 2006. Filmmakers will be permitted up to five minutes to pitch their projects during the festival and the scholarship award will permit full use of the Muse Media Center’s facilities for one month, which is valued at $20,000.
Noah Veneklasen, Principal of the Muse Media Center, says, “We think of the process leading up to the scholarship award as a kind of Project Greenlight. Between the pitch sessions and the excitement of the festival, we hope to create a fun atmosphere that culminates in awarding much-need support to an independent filmmaker.”
Noah opened the center with his wife Karyn Veneklasen in 2005 with the intent of building an independent film community around the center. Both Noah and Karyn are accomplished producers, with experience in corporate videos, documentaries and feature-lengths.
Scarlett Shepard, founder of the San Francisco Women’s Film Festival (SFWFF), says, “We are thrilled to receive Muse Media Center’s generous support. The SFWFF mission is to honor, showcase and facilitate the creation of films that are directed or co-directed by women. We achieve our mission by supporting, promoting, exhibiting and honoring the achievements and contributions of women in the world of cinema.
The Muse Media Center is a post-production facility offering editorial, audio, graphics and portable audio and video editing tools. For more information about their facilities, visit www.musemediacenter.com
