DocuClub In-the-Works & Idea Workshop Call for Entries

In-the-Works submissions deadline: October 31
Idea Workshop submissions deadline: November 28

DocuClub's In-the-Works program offers filmmakers a safe environment to screen a rough-cut of their documentaries before an audience of their peers and lovers of the form. The audience is encouraged to give constructive feedback about the structure, content, characters, and clarity of the film in a post-screening discussion facilitated by an experienced filmmaker. A
cheese and wine reception will follow to give everyone a chance to network.

Previous films that have recently screened at our In-the-Works program through DocuClub include Academy Award-winner Born into Brothels by Zana Briski & Ross Kauffman and The Boys of Baraka directed by Heidi Ewing & Rachel Grady which won the Audience Award at the SilverDocs: AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival.

DocuClubıs Idea Workshop is an intimate pitching session where accepted filmmakers pitch their ideas to industry representatives who, in turn, provide feedback on the strength of the pitch (and often trailer) and the potential markets for the film's subject matter. Filmmakers can practice their pitch, industry reps get a feel for what projects are at early stages of production, and the audience gets a sense of how this all-important facet of documentary funding and production happens as well. This program always sells out and has recently included industry representatives from PBS, P.O.V., Sundance Channel, BRAVO, Magnolia Pictures, and Emerging Pictures. A wine and cheese networking reception follows.
