U.S. House & Senate Bills could kill cable Access Centers Nationally
Action Alert!
Right now, two bills in the U.S. House and Senate could kill PEG Access nationally. One of the bills, S. 1349, is sponsored by Oregon's Senator Gordon Smith. Both bills would give telephone companies national cable television franchises without any local government oversight or adequate provisions for PEG Access funding, channels and equipment.
This is a serious threat to free speech. Without cable access communications without censorship will be difficult if not impossible on regular television. If you care about keeping access to the airwaves for citizens or you are wanting to find out more information please check out our website where we update regularly information on what you can do to make a difference.
Thank you for your support.
