From New York to Baghdad: A Benefit for Iraqi Women

Please join MADRE, an international women's human rights organization, and the Knitting Factory for a benefit to raise support for Iraq's only network of women's shelters. The shelters were established shortly after the US invasion by MADRE's sister organization, the Organization of Women's Freedom in Iraq, to provide a safe haven for women seeking protection from a sharp rise in domestic abuse, rape, forced marriage, "honor killings" and other forms of violence against women. The party at the Knitting Factory is one of dozens of gatherings being planned nationwide where people can learn about the real-life impact of the US occupation on Iraqi women's lives and offer concrete support to Iraqi women who are fighting for their basic human rights.
