Rwandan Documentary Screening and Discussion
The International Black Film Festival presents a special screening of "Keepers of Memory," a film by Eric Kabera, in collaboration with the Open Center.
"Keepers of Memory" is an award-winning documentary film about the genocide in Rwanda. The film focuses on the personal stories of men and women who watch over the sacred burial sites, keeping the memories alive for future generations. They tell a tale of unimaginable pain and loss that is both inspirational and thought provoking as they bravely face the future and rebuild their lives.
Film is followed by a panel discussion hosted by Adam Madibo, members of the Dafur Peace and Development Organization, the American Anti-Slavery Group, and others.
Where: New York Open Center 83 Spring Street (between Broadway and Crosby Streets)in SoHo
Time: Doors open at 6:30, film begins at 7:00 PM
Admission: $10 at the door. Student Discounts available. Admission supports the International Black Film Festival and the Open Center.
